Collective Exhibition
The theme underlying the opening exhibition, speculare, is the exploration of the cerebral activity of speculation. In distinction to the financial term “speculation”, here the artists devote themselves to generating hypothetical lines of thought in which the uncertain and the incalculable serve as the common focus. The increasingly speculative approaches in the context of knowledge production, design and (media) technology, as well as in literature, philosophy and esoterics are explored and put to the test. Invalidating grand narratives and outlining multiple futures, the works diverge from previously mapped-out paths and restore the alternating possibilities of becoming and existence excluded from their realisation in the form of aesthetic propositions; the only given is the absolute necessity of the contingency of everything.
