Transit is a photographic exploration of South Tyrol in a state of transition. Created through the collaboration of Gerd Eder (photography), Tanja Schuster (hair and makeup), and Nadia Tschenett (fashion styling), the series draws on the visual codes of a fashion editorial but removes them from their commercial context. Here, fashion is not understood as a trend or commodity, but as a form of expression—a language that makes bodies, attitudes, and affiliations visible and at the same time questions them.

A field of tension unfolds between staging and observation: South Tyrol is not shown here as an idyllic destination, but as a transit space—shaped by tourism, infrastructure, work, and everyday life, by arrivals and departures.

The photographed figures appear like passersby who have paused briefly—present, but not located, part of the landscape and yet at a distance. Clothing functions as a second skin, a temporary identity that is constantly changing in transit.

The exhibition also focuses on the question of identity. Embedded in the background theme of the current exhibition year, “Femininity,” the figures depicted are not fixed role models, but fragile states: changeable, contradictory, sometimes resistant. Femininity does not appear as a clear attribution, but as something processual that is constantly reshaped in the interplay of gaze, pose, clothing, and environment. The landscape does not appear as a mere backdrop, but as an active resonance space that both shapes and questions these identities.
