From the emotional world of a Sternsinger photographer

"In all the days between Christmas and Epiphany, it has become a joyful anticipation for me to experience the Sternsinger. Wherever I encountered them, in the city or mainly in the remote mountain villages, the exposed hamlets and farms of my adopted home of South Tyrol, their appearance with their golden crowns, shining star, and exotic robes delighted my childlike mind. Time and again, I succumbed to their special appeal. The idea of how the magicians and wise men from the distant Orient followed the comet on their way to the stable in Bethlehem always transported me to a world of exotic lands.

For 30 years, Theo Stammer accompanied the carol singers on their journeys and documented them in photographs. A selection of these wonderful contemporary testimonies will be on display at the Raiffeisen Gallery in Bruneck from December 17, 2025, to January 16, 2026.
